The Boss OC-3 SUPER Octave Pedal is the world's first compact pedal with true polyphonic octave effects! With Polyphonic Octave mode, drive mode with distortion, and the original OC-2 mode, this is the most...
"Squire, who felt that certain effects were better matched with neck or bridge pickups, rewired his Rickenbacker with stereo outputs in the early ’70s. Onstage, he used a boatload of vintage effects, including Maestro Fuzz-Tone, TC Electronic Stereo Chorus Flanger, TC Nova Reverb, Boss OC-3 Super Octave, Mu-Tron III, and custom-made tremolo pedals. He played Moog Taurus bass pedals, eventually triggering samples from an E-Mu ESI2000 sampler."more
In this picture of one of Annie's old pedalboard we can see thatshe owns a Boss OC-3 SUPER Octave Pedal. This pedalboard can be confirmed that it is hers by the similarities between this one and the one in this article from 2007 http://www.thecurrent.org/feature/2007/07/24/st_vincentmore
Steve Morse reveals his usage of the Boss OC-3 in this [interview](http://www.bossus.com/community/boss_users_group/30071) for Boss. "I noticed in a Deep Purple video that you use an octave pedal a lot on solos. Is it the BOSS OC-3 Super Octave? That’s one of them. I have four different rigs, actually five different rigs, but that’s definitely one of them."more
At 2:55 in this video you can see Colin's pedalboard. The Boss OC-3 SUPER Octave Pedal can be found fourth pedal from the left, in the top row. Colin says "I’d use like a couple pedals from Boss where I’d combine a [harmonist](http://equipboard.com/items/boss-ps-6-harmonist-pitch-shifter-guitar-effects-pedal) Pedal with a super octave. Which is basically taking - which means I can play a lead part but it would drop the part down a few octaves and then on the harmonist I could do, put like a harmony on it so it almost sounded like two guitars at the same time."more
"I’ve used the distortion, the DS-1, on every one of my own records, and on a lot of other peoples’ records too. I use it all the time. It just works for me, and it’s got a real nice sound to it, so I’ve been using it forever. I also use the delays [DD-3]. I’ve got one set for a long delay that I’II use occasionally, and the other is set for a regular delay that I have on always. I use the BOSS [OC-3] Super Octave, and that’s it. That’s all I basically use, but that stuff is killin’."more
"For effects I use a Peterson tuner, either a Chandler Digital Echo or an MXR Carbon Copy, an MXR Phase 90, a Boss OC-3 Super Octave Pedal, a Morley Bad Horsie Wah-Wah pedal and a Morley Optical Volume Pedal. I’ve also just started using an MXR Micro Flanger which Joe Bonamassa recently gave me."more
Like his bandmates, Stasik goes big on his pedalboard. His signal enters the board through a Boss TU-3 tuner, then hits a loop switcher controlling a Moogerfooger MF-1-1 Lowpass Filter (controlled by a Moog EP-3 expression pedal), 3Leaf Audio Wonderlove envelope filter and You’re Doom fuzz pedals, an Xotic effects Bass BB Preamp, a Boss OC-3 Super Octave, a DigiTech Bass Synth Wah, and an Electro-Harmonix Frequency Analyzer ring modulator.more
"Effects are so important. I think it’s really easy to over do it but so important to first have the sound you are going for in your head before you start just piling up the effects. My main effects are. TC Electronics, Ditto, Flashback Delay, Hal Of Fame Reverb, Pog, Boss Oc-3 and a Volume Pedal."more
Outrageous octaves with a single stomp!
The Boss OC-3 SUPER Octave Pedal is the world's first compact pedal with true polyphonic octave effects! With Polyphonic Octave mode, drive mode with distortion, and the original OC-2 mode, this is the most versatile octave stompbox ever.
One of the best Octavers i've ever tried! Great features, great tone, great build quality. Much recommended!
Just what you expect from a Boss pedal: first of all, it feels like it could withstand anything, and of course the sound is now a standard. It works just as an OC-2 (1 and 2 octaves down) in one mode, 1 octave and a 4th down in another mode, and also has a simple overdrive mode, for which you can adjust gain and add a lower octave.
This is so good for be honest , i only buy this for the song "the seven nation army" but whit this oh is like i play bass and that is great when u want to cover a only bass song like anesthesia pulling teeth .
This effects pedal is a lot of fun to use! If you like tweaking your sound to something that is your own, than this can definitely help. I love the rich sounds that you can get, and that you can plug it into a guitar and bass amp at the same time to get some great tones. I have had lots of fun playing around with this unit, but haven't decided how it would fit into anything I play. I play Van Halen music mostly, and Eddie does use this effect occasionally, like on the outro for Drop Dead Legs.
Solid pedal with useful drive function as well as double octave. Lower octaves tend to rumble quite a bit and it would be nice to mute the original octave and just hear the lower one. Only really useful for a few particular songs...
First i was looking for a POG to generate a octave down signal that gonna through a Zoom B3. My idea is to achieve a powerful bass sound this way. I buy the Boss OC3 with a less expensive price and everything that i need. Boss is a great company and have a well recognized reliability.
