Handy amp that is a clone of a Vox AC30, but does have some Fender tone to it. It breaks up nicely, and I love on the gain channel when the mid boost is engaged, I can really cut through a solo with it. I wish they would have put a trigger on the foot pedal for the mid boost instead of the reverb, but hey. Talk to your local amp guru and pay to set your equipment up to work the best for your tones and little intricacies. If everything works great out of the box for you, awesome, if not, change it. I have retubed the amp and it gets much better tone, and highs and lows are more discernible.
My main amp and first "adult" amp. Tubes are just where its at. This amp has fantastic cleans that are only accentuated by the built in reverb. The dirty channel is pretty awesome though, anything from just starting to break up to some pretty awesome sounding overdriven amp tones. Only thing that kinda bugs me is having to adjust the EQ a lot. You can get a lot of different sounds this way but what tends to sound good dirty doesn't sound as good clean and vice versa in terms of the EQ. But still a great amp, I love it.
you stuck a WGS BlackHawk in it you could make the thing sound like a Marshall copy! it is built in China, but is built very strongly and sounds great brand new with no new tubes being replaced.
I've had this amp for about two years, but couldn't get the fender-ish clean glassy sound I was seraching for. It has master volume, which is a good thing for home practicing. Full blooded tube machine. Otherwise, very well built, heavy, sturdy like a tenk. My girl liked it's boutique look but I sold it to the heavy metal guy, who found it good even for that kind of music.
I bought the V22 when I was 13 years old. It's clean tones made me buy this little monster because A good clean sound will provide a good basis for effects. I was right about that. it has a Voxy jangle an when cranked it sounds really throaty in the mids. I have played several gigs with this beast and I will continue to do so. I love it.
I just had the tubes changed to russian tubes, the service man confirmed what I always believed a very well built amp. The russian tubes did change the tone, but apart from changing the tubes after 5 years it has been fantastic, no dramas. Some muso's are brand snobs and therefore won't touch this she devil, but get past the name and she is a beast. I'm more for the dirty sound and this baby cranks, she loves my pedals too.
