David Rubio (1934 - 2000) was a London-born instrument maker. Initially a keen guitarist, he later became more interested in their construction, and Rubio's attention to historical detail was extraordinary. The same applied to his harpsichords. The example pictured is a 1974 Rubio copy of the famous 18th-century French harpsichord builder Pascal Taskin. This harpsichord has 2 sets of 8? strings, one 4? set, and a harp stop. Rubio's aforementioned attention to detail here extended as far as using turkey quill for the tangent picks which was apparently one of Taskin's hallmarks.
