In this email exchange with Keith Murray of We Are Scientists from May 2016, he says: > "I've also put a Death By Audio Fuzz War on the pedal board but haven't really been using it live. It's all over the record, though, and is sick as hell..." His reference to "the record" is for their 2016 album Helter Seltzer.more
"Replacing the somewhat irreplaceable Super Fuzz on Kid Congo’s pedal board is the Death By Audio Fuzz War. “I find [it] very useful, and very lovely the kind of fuzz I can get out of that. It actually works really well with the Gretsch, I like it a lot. A lot of fuzzes just kind of fly away, the minute it comes out of your amp it dissipates, but that is actually a much nicer fuzz.”more
"The Fulltone died, so I replaced it with a Death By Audio Fuzz War. I’ve been on a really deep Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall kick, and that’s the fuzz those bands use. It’s just so awesome. It cleans up so well. You can leave it on the entire time and roll back the volume knob on your guitar and get the cleanest, most beautiful sound. Most people wouldn’t expect that from it, but it’s the truth."more
Some people describe this pedal as an insane and over the top level of fuzz, I however feel that it has unbelievable clarity, especially when playing chords, and is extremely versatile with the tone control.
Rarely do you find a pedal that can do as much as this for the dollar. Everything from a telophonic mid only sounds to rich textures from fat to thin, brutal to smooth but smashed, etc.
That & one of my favorite venues I've ever...
+good people behind these pedals. That matters.k
