This Epiphone plays like a Gibson. The standard pickups are very slightly less clear than those of higher-end models. But I like it a lot more for that. Beautiful looking and playing guitar!
Good lord, this thing is ridiculous. I mean heavy, but ridiculous in a good way. Now I'm not sure if they come stock, but mine had Grover tuners on it. The tone and sustain was incredible, I mean it really is a Gibson but without their name on the headstock. You may already know Gibson is the parent company to Epiphone, but I'm telling you that if you feel ridiculous (you should) for shelling out anywhere over a grand (which you will) on an above-average Gib LP, then give this thing a try. I don't believe you will be disappointed.
STILL trying to get mine back from my old rhythm guitarist from High School..
After having my heart set on a Gibson Les Paul, I set out to play everything I could at the local guitar shops. Bottom line was, after playing about 4 or 5 of them, none were speaking to me. The salesman asked if I wanted to try another and on accident he grabbed the Epiphone Les Paul Custom Pro. I told him I would give it a try anyway and I liked it better than the Gibson's I played prior! So I purchased it and to this day it's still my #1 guitar in the arsenal. The neck is great, plays like a dream, and the Probucker pickups are impressive. Job well done by Epiphone on this one.
