On his SoundCloud's account comments, another item that Richard David James mentions as gear that he uses is the Eventide H8000FW: "Really inspired me, thanks Tom, he gave me some of his patches, awesome stuff, wouldn’t want to use them of course, they are his. He made some synths on them which was some great lateral thinking at the time. Never rinsed my DSP4000 anywhere near as much as he did but I’ve been recently been giving the 8000 a REALLY hard time with the Cirklon! inspired greatly by Tom."more
“This box (H8000FW) is almost like a video game in which expertise at one level opens up to another level and so on ad infinitum. What an amazing piece of audio architecture has arisen from the collective history of all the past Eventide products. All computer-domain people on alert: there are things which plug-ins simply don't do.”more
“I used the H8000FW a lot on my recent projects, and I am continually amazed at the sonic quality of the H8000FW. Plug-ins are great, and I use them quite a bit, but there is something special about the sound of the H8000FW that creates a special place in the mix. It really makes a big difference.”more
During a studio tour with Future Music Magazine, Steve Mac says [@ 27:02] about his Eventide H8000: “Here we have the Eventide H8000, which I've been using for quite a long time now. I've always been a fan of the Eventide effects. A lot of them are pretty bonkers and I don't use them so much for reverb, just more for special FX. It's got some amazing delays and pitch shifters, obviously because that's what they are known for."more
