According to Lee Dickson, Eric Clapton used this guitar on the Journeyman album and on stage in the late 1980s. Clapton said that he chose this shade of red to match the Ferrari he owned at the time. It is actually a Ferrari paint colour - Torino red. Lee Dickson said that he thought that this guitar or the one in lot 67 was played by either George Harrison or Andy Fairweather Low during the 1991 Japanese Tour.more
In this picture, you can see the last gig of Stevie Ray Vaughan at Alpine Valley of Eric Claptons massive 1990-91 Journeyman World Tour in which Guy is playing a 1987 Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster in Torino Red finish. The use of exactly this Clapton Signature guitar is also recalled in Christie's 1999 Eric Clapton Crossroads auction catalogue on page 88/89.more
