This is my first, and only bass. It feels as good to play as Fender MIM Jazz basses, but the sound is slightly less distinctive. This is a realy versitile bass, and great for anyone to start on.
One cannot go wrong with the Jazz Bass for versatility. If one is just starting it is a better value for money to start with the Squier series rather than the main Fender series. It is a very good bass for the price, with quite decent quality.
My first bass was a squire affinity jazz bass in lake placid blue. It served me well for a year or so and I customized the hell out of it, but eventually the fact that it's a squire started to show and it started falling apart (e.g the nut broke and the tuning pegs started falling off) but all in all, it's a great instrument to get started on.
