I've used many different monitors from DynAudios, Mackies, Events to JBL's but after owning Genelec's they seemed to be my favorite. Their very accurate, transparent monitors to mix on, and always translate well from the studio, to the car and to my laptop. I recommend these for higher end monitoring.more
Much of the writing and recording of Vulnicura took place at Björk’s New York home, where she has the ultimate 21st Century studio. The total music–tech content consists of an Avid Pro Tools HD Native Thunderbolt system, Genelec 1032 monitors (“I like them a lot, they sound very creamy. But they can be deceptive, because everything sounds good in them. So you have to be a little careful.”), an M–Audio controller, a Telefunken ELAM 251 microphone and Neve 1081 mic preamp.more
Many people got rid of old 10xx gens and bought Barefoots or other stuff. But if you want "classic" sound, nice low-end extension, big SPL and overall balanced sound in 5-6 feet zone, better try these. Stereo image is accurate, the "depth" of sounds is good. There is issue with low mids - they are smeared, comparing to everything above crossover frequency. But, same problem occurs in many many situations - big PA's, car audio and etc. So, if you'll pair 'em with NS10 or similar speakers, you'll get pretty much full control over the sound.
