NI’s compact groove production studio.
MASCHINE MIKRO is the perfect entry into the world of MASCHINE, giving you tactile, hands-on control for beat production, sampling and performance. This compact groove production system has plenty to boast about with 16 ultra-responsive multi-color pads that provide the ultimate feel in the thick of the beat. Its compact size and bus-powered operation mean you’re in control no matter where you are. And MASCHINE MIKRO is powered by MASCHINE 2 software, which is exploding with cutting-edge technology. Improved browsing, arranging, and sampling, plus a new mixer, plug-in strip, and exclusive drum synths. Get ready for the most responsive, fluid, and musical beatmaking experience ever.
MASCHINE MIKRO’s ultra-fast, tag-based browser gives your creativity no time to slow down. Use MASCHINE MIKRO's display screen to quickly find any project, group, sound, instrument, effect or sample. Then simply load it and go. Get inspired by over 22 GB of sound. Create your own drums with sonically outstanding drum synths, and dial-in 25 pro-grade effects directly from the hardware. Plus, you get KOMPLETE SELECT – a premium selection of 10 KOMPLETE Instruments and Effects. Get a full suite of professional sound right out of the box and control it all from your MASCHINE MIKRO hardware.
Scales and Chords
MASCHINE 2 extends Keyboard Mode with a new scale and chord engine – fully integrated into the MASCHINE workflow. Simply select your scale and start playing melodies on MASCHINE’s 16 ultra-sensitive pads that are always in key. Engage Chord Mode and play chords directly into your compositions.
MASCHINE 2 extends Note Repeat into a fully functional arpeggiator. Play any number of notes and let MASCHINE turn them into a melodic pattern. Use the arpeggiator in combination with Scale and Chord Modes and get polyphonic performances from just one key – always in tune. What’s more, the output of the arpeggiator is recorded into the Pattern Editor – perfect for post-performance editing.
MASCHINE 2 gives you full keyboard functionality within the MASCHINE environment. Press browse on your KOMPLETE KONTROL keyboard and the KOMPLETE Browser pops up on your computer screen, letting you select and load a sound directly into a sound slot in MASCHINE. Watch scales, chords, and arpeggios light up across KOMPLETE KONTROL’s Light Guide™, see the color of your sounds in MASCHINE directly on the keyboards, and get perfectly mapped parameters instantly with Native Map™.
Introducing Native Kontrol Standard®
KOMPLETE KONTROL continues its evolution with Native Kontrol Standard® (NKS). NKS is Native Instruments’ extended plug-in format that opens up the KOMPLETE KONTROL system.
It allows VST and KONTAKT instrument developers to integrate their plug-ins with KOMPLETE KONTROL and MASCHINE at the same deep level as KOMPLETE Instruments. This means that even instruments not built by NI can be fully integrated in the KOMPLETE KONTROL and MASCHINE browsers, with instrument parameters intelligently mapped straight out of the box. NKS instruments can access the Light Guide, Smart Play features, and the full creative potential of KOMPLETE KONTROL. And what’s more, the NKS version of an instrument will be a free update for existing owners.

With a bit more polish (mainly to make the keyboard and mouse work better rather than assuming you'll do everything via the hardware buttons) this could be my DAW of choice. The step sequencer is really great. As for the hardware the pads are velocity sensitive and have a nice feel, unlike the clicky on/off pads on a launchpad. You get the Massive synth vst with this deal too and a great set of samples.
Take it on the road and use when tracking (and sometimes with Traktor). Sometimes I put SFX on it and drums on my full Maschine for more spontaneous or whatever tracking.
It is a great beat machine to produce with, with a size that gives you the freedom to take it anywhere with you and keep making amazing music. Easy and fun to use, and it comes with a great sound library to crea your own style! It is actually becoming part of my live set!
Iam chuffed that I purchased this duo last year the drum sequencer is second to none comprehensive and super easy to use. The drum samples on this unit sound dynamic and can be edited to the users tastes it comes with a multiple effects suite where four effects can be applied to a single drum sample offers the programmer the ability to create any drum sound imaginable. Yes this maschine comes with over 8 GB off content and colours can be applied to the drum pads for easy recognition of what instrument is being triggered. Also the chord and arp function can control external vsts so opening up a wealth off possibilities. In my opinion maschine make the best hybrid groove station on the market today.
The Mikro is controls everything I need and use inside Traktor Pro without needing to look at the computer or use a keyboard. It is fully mapped using a custom midi mapping that has taken 2 years to develop and is constantly being changed as my live shows needs shift. It also has a group/page bank that controls 3 more loops inside mainstage, and I can also trigger video visual clips in a third group/page bank.
I have the Maschine Mikro MKII for about 2 years at the time I write this and it is a great tool for quick groove sequencing and als a great live performance tool to create beats on the fly. As a VST in Ableton you get the best of both worlds.
A lot of button features make this a great add-on controller to unlock the full potential of your DJ Software. As for production with Maschine software, it is a good portable setup and gives you the essentials for controlling Maschine.
Before this I was using my own samples in drum racks in Ableton and before that an Elektron Machinedrum (which I miss). The amount of sounds you can get out of this is incredible. The samples included with the software are amazing for the price. The samples alone are worth the cost. Adding your own samples is incredibly easy and the hardware is easy to use, intuitive and the pads are better than any other I have used.
I didn't know anything about NI until I heard about the maschine. I decided to try out the smaller version before I became to invested. I fell in love with the hardware and the software and plan to upgrade to the studio version in the future! This thing makes my work flow so much quicker and individual processes easier. Great integration of soft/hardware!
