My First Pedal
I cut my teeth using this pedal. It's got tons of parameters to play with. It's because of this pedal that I wanted to learn about tone...mostly because the tone on this pedal is horrible, and I never want to hear another used ever again. Because it inspired me to play, I will give it more than one star. But I won't give it more than two because of how badly it sounds without mods.
Else one classic :-)
Must have device. One of the best from BOSS. Very pretty sound from drive to hard distortion tones. Very nice and powerful eq on board. As usual work best only with tube amps! don't try to use it with cheap transistor combo - you will be disappointed.
This pedal is highly critized for having to much gain but all you have to do is roll down the gain you idoit!
This pedal is good for metallica to tool to black sabbath, with high mid range and mids around 6 keep the bass high and the treble at 5-6 and your set to play just about any metal this pedal is great!

Best High Gain pedal for anything from classic rock to Hardcore Death Metal (not Swedish death metal though)
Sounds great because it is. Wide range of tone for a great price. Hash a crap ton of gain for your metaley needs and it a great pedal if you wanna boost your amps overdrive. i find that useful in many ways. you cant go wrong with this pedal.
It was my first distortion pedal. It has tweakable EQ which can give you different tones. Of course for metal you would like to cut mids and add some low and highs. Do it, but very accurate. Gain knob can give you some small amount of distortion or you can fully crank it up and get so much noise... Very usable and a great eq. I still like it.
This was either of the first pedals I bought. Still have it.
I remember myself trying to find a nice tone through this unit, just connencting it to the front of the amp..That first amp of mine had no fx loop. So yeah, I was just happy with all that dirt coming out of the box. Nothing more to say here.. Nice feature the EQ setting it has, as it can be also used as a twisted cranked eq pedal.
The infamous MT-2
I've this pedal since 1998 and I just had it modded by AnalogMan. I'm just waiting for it to come back from Mike @ AnalogMan. I hope it sounds fucking awesome. I think it's very harsh with the mids. I do know she is a fickle creature. Let's rock MT-2 \m/
Great as boost
I use it for my Marshall Valvestate head as a boost. Works great because of parametric mids, you can boost some low mids in Marshalls, some hi mids in Mesas etc.
