From his featured article in MusicRader: 'It's no surprise to see Maschine in Flume's studio but, as yet, he hasn't really got the most out of it, he tells us. “I’ve never really learnt it properly so I don’t tend to use it that much,” he explains.' This model of Maschine must be the MKII because it has one large knob on the left side, while the MKI has three smaller knobs in that location.more
In this YouTube video, Dow Jones and Henny (Tha Bizness) rely on MASCHINE, describing their process: "[We] basically went in Maschine, started going through the samples. If you listen to the track stock, it would sound completely different. But we used Maschine's internal effects to… just to really beef everything up and kinda make our own sound. We load in our own drums. Did a simple arrangement with nothing added, no effects or whatever." "People always ask, when I get Maschine what sounds does it come with? It comes with a lot of sounds but the greatest part of Maschine to us is that you can record whatever you want in it. Then we add effects. This was the first time that we recorded live instruments into Maschine, instead of how some people might take live instruments and record them straight into Pro Tools."more

Introducing Native Kontrol Standard®
KOMPLETE KONTROL continues its evolution with Native Kontrol Standard® (NKS). NKS is Native Instruments’ extended plug-in format that opens up the KOMPLETE KONTROL system.
It allows VST and KONTAKT instrument developers to integrate their plug-ins with KOMPLETE KONTROL and MASCHINE at the same deep level as KOMPLETE Instruments. This means that even instruments not built by NI can be fully integrated in the KOMPLETE KONTROL and MASCHINE browsers, with instrument parameters intelligently mapped straight out of the box. NKS instruments can access the Light Guide, Smart Play features, and the full creative potential of KOMPLETE KONTROL. And what’s more, the NKS version of an instrument will be a free update for existing owners.

I came from the sp 12 to the sp 1200 to the mpc 60 to the mpc 3000 and then the mpc 2000xl.. it was very hard to sell me on this one but when i got it .I got it !!!..its the mpc only 100 times easier and faster..and with limitless capabilities ..most of my music is sample driven even my EDM tracks i sample drums and old syths on so it works perfect...
The preset sounds are fantastic. But, it's the user interface that is the crowning jewel here. The array of instrument grouping, patters, scenes, etc. introduces many possibilities in terms of workflow. Sampling audio, chopping it down and assigning to pads is easy and awesomely fast. In the beginning, it was seemed enough rope to hang myself with. A couple months later, I'm loving it.
Its a very cool studio toy. As in toy, personally i dont use it enough for serious production work. For me it is easier to keep everything in Ableton and not have to open Maschine up as a plugin. I think Maschine MKII has a good sound engine while using itself, I dont like how it sounds when re-routing. and I do not care for its built in plugins
Maschine Mk2 is a wonderful thing to use in your Studio. You'll need about a year to find out all the functions, but then it's perfect. You can't only use it for drums, it has so much potential!!! You get a huge Collection of Samples, Sounds and Also NI Massive, Prism, Solid Bus Comp and Scarbee Mark 1. It is Wonderful!
When I first got it, I really underestimated it. I don't really know why. This DAW and controller is basically an upgraded (like hell) MPC which works with the computer. -no standalone The way you can lay down ideas so quick and chop samples in seconds is what makes this maschine so good. Perfect way for everyone to get into making music.
i was using a mpc1000 and let me tell you that the learning curve is way easier with the machine. i am using my usb output on my rane 62 for machine and it work flawlessly with my setup.
nice piece of equipment with frequent updates and new expansion packs to expand its range of sound. could be used to play live, or used in the studio for production work, as it is a useful combination of both hardware and software. highly recommended tool for producers!
This program works really well inside any DAW, and makes drum programming super easy, and as far as i know, you can do what ever you want with it-- vsts per sound or per group-- external routing per group/sound...automation. you name it.
