After getting a call asking him to “sit in” with Katy Perry for the half time show, Lenny Kravitz introduced us to the newest model of forthcoming ’59 reissues from Gibson. Lenny posted, “The guitar I'm playing tonight is the first of Gibson's 59 Black Over Flame Top series. Thank You gibsonguitar. LK”
And while Kravitz is no stranger to playing black Les Pauls at the Super Bowl, this latest one is really exciting. Check it out.
The new flame top seems to add a subtle design, best seen in the video at 4:16ish, on an incredibly popular reissue line. As if we needed another excuse to lust after the ’59s.
If you’re not human and that doesn’t do it for you, maybe try looking into Kravitz’s super-limited edition Flying V. See that bad boy in action here. He styled it after a ’67 and said, “The neck size is the dimension that I like. The paint, the hardware, the finish, the sound, the pickup, the weight - that's basically it. I used all Gibson and Epiphone on the Lenny album. I've been using the same model since Let Love Rule.” Did we mention that only 125 exist and they were created in 2002?
Finally, you can see Lenny's other guitars here. Happy gear hunting!
