I enjoy playing this bass. It is not often that I play bass out on stage but when I do this is what I use. The reason I purchased this bass was it's price. I am a Beatles fan and always wanted a Hofner 500/1 of my own. That is currently out of my price range and I could not justify purchasing one for the very few times I play bass outside of my house. The body of this guitar is a little bit wider than the 500/1. I feel the tone is okay. It might actually have a little bit better tone than the 500/1. Then again, most people play a 500/1 for it's look and light weight not necessarily the sound. (Unless, you are going for that Beatles early 60's sound) This bass does not tip forward as much as the 500/1 which is an improvement. My friend has a 500/1 and you need to play the guitar while tilting it back because the bass has a tendency to fall forward. Overall, this was a fine purchase for what I was looking for.
