About
A Change of Pace is a dynamic band hailing from Peoria, Arizona, known for their energetic blend of screamo, pop punk, neon pop punk, and pop emo. Formed by Torry Jasper (vocals/guitar) and Jonathan Kelly (drums), the group has seen several lineup changes, eventually solidifying with members Johnny Abdullah (bass/vocals), Adam Rodgers (guitar), and later, Dan Parker (guitar). Their music captures the fervor and angst of early 2000s emo and pop-punk, evident in their debut full-length album An Offer You Can't Refuse and its follow-up Prepare the Masses.
How to Sound Like A Change of Pace
A Change of Pace's sound is characterized by its driving, emotive guitar riffs and catchy, yet intense vocal lines, often delivered with a raw, urgent energy. Achieving their sound involves a balance between distorted, high-gain guitar tones and melodic, anthemic choruses. Guitarists can lean on solid-state or tube amps to capture that crunchy, powerful distortion typical of pop punk, while chorus and delay effects can add depth and atmosphere to the riffs and solos. The rhythm section maintains a fast-paced, punchy foundation, with dynamic drumming that propels the music's intensity forward. For musicians aiming to emulate A Change of Pace, focusing on energetic playing and tightly-knit arrangements will be key to capturing their spirited essence.
