About
AWS is a Hungarian metal band hailing from Budapest, known for their energetic blend of modern metal and alternative rock, with a distinct Magyar twist. Formed in 2006, the band has undergone several transformations, most notably with the addition of Stefán Tamás as their new vocalist. The group comprises Bence Brucker (guitar), Dániel Kökényes (guitar), Soma Schiszler (bass), and Áron Veress (drums). AWS gained international attention with their electrifying performance at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2018 and have built a strong reputation within the Hungarian metal scene through their dynamic live shows and critically acclaimed albums.
How to Sound Like AWS
AWS's sound is characterized by its high-energy, aggressive guitar riffs and powerful vocal delivery, which are staples of their modern metal approach. To capture their intense and raw sound, musicians should focus on heavy distortion and robust overdrive, ideally through high-gain amplifiers or pedals that can deliver a thick, cutting tone. The dual-guitar setup often features intricate harmonies and melodic interplay, which can be achieved with tight rhythm synchronization and layered effects like chorus and reverb for added depth. The rhythm section provides a driving, relentless backdrop, with the bass delivering punchy, low-end support and the drums emphasizing fast-paced, dynamic rhythms. Achieving AWS's sonic character requires a balance of precision and intensity, with attention to the interplay between melodic lead lines and the underlying rhythmic force.
