Король и Шут is a Russian punk rock band renowned for its unique blend of horror punk infused with elements of melodic hard rock. Originating from Saint Petersburg in 1988, the band was initially formed by Mikhail "Gorshok" Gorshenev (vocals), Alexandr "Balu" Balunov (bass), and Alexandr "Lieutenant" Shchigoliev (drums). Throughout their active years, the lineup saw various changes but consistently delivered music that drew heavily from dark regional fairy tales and folklore. Known for their theatrical style and makeup-heavy, Misfits-inspired aesthetic, Король и Шут became a cultural phenomenon in Russia, releasing numerous albums until they disbanded in 2014 following Gorshenev's death.
