About
Buffalo Killers is an American rock band hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, known for their fusion of rock, blues rock, punk blues, stoner rock, and neo-psychedelic genres. The band was formed in 2006 by brothers Andrew Gabbard (guitar, vocals) and Zachary Gabbard (bass, vocals) after the dissolution of their previous band, Thee Shams. They teamed up with Joseph Sebaali (drums), who had played keys with Thee Shams, to create a sound that melds hard rock and psychedelia with a distinct bluesy undertone. Over the years, the group expanded to include Sven Kahns (guitar, lap steel), enhancing their rich, layered sound.
How to Sound Like Buffalo Killers
Buffalo Killers’ sound is characterized by its raw, gritty texture, achieving a balance between heavy riff-driven rock and laid-back, blues-infused grooves. Their music often features thick, overdriven guitar tones reminiscent of classic rock, supported by the use of tube amps that provide a warm, saturated sound. The interplay between the guitars creates a dense sonic landscape, filled with both melodic hooks and psychedelic flourishes. Analog delay and modulation effects are used to add depth and a swirling quality to their music, contributing to their neo-psychedelic vibe. The rhythm section lays down a solid, driving foundation, with bass lines that groove alongside the dynamic drum patterns, ensuring each track maintains its energy and momentum. Overall, Buffalo Killers’ music captivates with its blend of vintage rock elements and modern psychedelic textures, appealing to fans of both classic and contemporary rock sounds.
