Chairlift was an American musical group formed in 2005 in Boulder, Colorado by Caroline Polachek (vocals, synths, and production) and Aaron Pfenning (guitar, synths, and vocals), later joined by Patrick Wimberly (drums, bass, and production). The band, which eventually relocated to Brooklyn, became known for their eclectic blend of electronic, alternative dance, indietronica, and art pop. Chairlift's music is characterized by whimsical arrangements and the richly ethereal vocals of Polachek. Their discography includes the albums Does You Inspire You, Something, and Moth, reflecting an evolution from synth-heavy avant-pop to a more polished, pop-oriented sound.
