Colourbox was an innovative English music group formed in London in 1982, primarily driven by the creative partnership of brothers Martyn Young (instrumentalist, producer) and Steven Young (instrumentalist, producer). The group initially featured vocalist Debbion Currie, who was later replaced by Lorita Grahame. Colourbox was known for its eclectic blend of New Wave, Synthpop, and Alternative Dance, and stood out for its pioneering use of sampling techniques. Their music drew on a wide range of influences, from classic R&B and dub to industrial sounds, making them a unique presence on the 4AD label. Colourbox gained further recognition through their collaboration on the chart-topping M/A/R/R/S project, "Pump Up the Volume".
