About

Deluxe is a dynamic French musical group originating from Aix-en-Provence, known for their eclectic blend of genres including funk, hip-hop, jazz, and electronic music. The band was initially formed by three childhood friends and expanded into a sextet with the addition of Soubri (drums), Pepe (bass), and Liliboy (vocals/rap) in 2007, and later adding Liliboy as a full-time member. Their vibrant performances and unique sound draw inspiration from diverse influences like The Roots and Gainsbourg, making them a standout act in the European music scene.

How to Sound Like Deluxe

The sound of Deluxe is a rich tapestry of funk-infused rhythms and jazzy melodies, characterized by a clean yet vibrant sonic palette. Their music is driven by tight, groove-oriented bass lines and dynamic drumming, providing a rhythmic foundation that is both solid and danceable. Bright, melodic horn sections and versatile guitar work add layers of musical texture, often enhanced by the use of Rhodes keyboards for a warm, vintage feel. The vocals bring a mix of soulful singing and rhythmic rap, delivering engaging narratives with energy and flair. To achieve a similar vibe, focus on integrating analog elements with modern electronic touches, ensuring each instrument occupies its own space in a well-balanced mix that highlights both the rhythmic and melodic aspects of their music.
