Ekova Members, Gear & Sound

Ekova is a Paris-based ensemble known for their eclectic fusion of world music and electronic elements. The group was formed by Dierdre Dubois (vocals, songwriter), an American expatriate with a unique lyrical style, often using a self-invented language. Joining her are Arach Khalatbari (percussion) from Iran, whose rhythms infuse the music with a Middle Eastern flair, Mehdi Haddab (guitar, oud) from Algeria, whose string work adds North African and Celtic textures, and Cyrille Dufay (keyboards) from France, who was initially brought in to infuse electronic elements into their sound. Ekova's music is a tapestry of African, Celtic, Indian, and Near Eastern influences, creating a rich, global soundscape.
