About
Funkdoobiest is a hip hop group hailing from Los Angeles, known for their Latin-infused old school hip hop sound. Formed in 1989, the group originally consisted of Son Doobie (Jason Vasquez, MC), Tomahawk Funk (Tyrone Pachenco, MC), and DJ Ralph M. (Ralph Medrano, DJ). As protégés of Cypress Hill's DJ Muggs, Funkdoobiest quickly made a name for themselves within the Soul Assassins crew, which included acts like Cypress Hill and House of Pain. The group debuted with their album Which Doobie U B? in 1993 and continued to cultivate a cult following with subsequent releases, even as they evolved into a duo after Tomahawk Funk's departure.

The MCs deliver smooth and confident flows, often with a playful, stoner-friendly edge that complements the beat-driven tracks. To emulate Funkdoobiest's sound, focus on selecting warm, analog-sounding synthesizers and classic drum machines to capture their old-school groove.
