About
Ghinzu is a Belgian rock band known for their eclectic blend of indie rock and French rock influences, delivering explosive live performances and a dynamic sound. Formed in Brussels in 1999, the group consists of John Stargasm (vocals, keyboards), Mika "Nagazaki" Hasson (bass), Greg Remy (guitar), and Antoine Michel (drums). Embracing a DIY ethos, Ghinzu released their debut album Electronic Jacuzzi on their own label, Dragoon, and gained a wider audience with their follow-up, Blow. Their music exhibits a cinematic quality, often compared to the theatrical styles of Muse and the gritty energy of The Stooges.
How to Sound Like Ghinzu
Ghinzu's sound is characterized by dramatic dynamics and textural richness, blending raw, distorted guitar riffs with lush, cinematic keyboard layers. Their music often features intense, soaring vocals supported by driving bass lines and punchy, precise drumming, creating a powerful yet melodic rock experience. To capture their sound, one might explore using overdrive and fuzz pedals for a gritty guitar tone, complemented by synths and keyboard effects that add depth and atmosphere. Dynamic shifts and layered arrangements are central to their style, with a focus on building tension and release, making their music both compelling and unpredictable.
