Grade is a Canadian punk band known for their emotive and intense blend of emo, screamo, post-hardcore, and melodic hardcore. Formed in Toronto, the group initially consisted of Kyle Bishop (vocals), Greg Taylor (guitar), Shawn Magill (guitar), Matt Jones (bass), and Chris Danner (drums). Following some lineup changes, Charles Moniz and Brad Casarin joined the band on drums and guitar, respectively. Grade emerged in the late '90s, gaining attention with their debut EP Separate the Magnets and further recognition through tours with bands like Fugazi and Jimmy Eat World. Their sound is characterized by passionate vocals, intricate guitar work, and driving rhythms that combine the raw energy of hardcore punk with the emotional depth of emo.

Grade's sonic character is inherently aggressive yet melodic, with a focus on dynamic contrasts and emotionally charged performances. To capture their sound, musicians should concentrate on achieving a raw but polished tone, often blending high-gain amplifiers with tight, punchy distortion to complement their complex guitar riffs.
