Originating from South Central Los Angeles, the group consists of Havoc (Kevin Gulley) and Prodeje (Austin Patterson), both of whom have made significant impacts as rappers and producers. Emerging in the early '90s as part of the influential group South Central Cartel, Havoc & Prodeje eventually branched out to cultivate their own distinctive sound across several notable albums throughout the decade.
How to Sound Like Havoc & Prodeje
Havoc & Prodeje's sound is characterized by laid-back, groove-heavy beats that embody the quintessential G-funk vibe. Their music often features rich, melodic synthesizers and deep, rolling basslines, creating a smooth yet gritty backdrop for their lyricism. To emulate their style, attention to funk-infused samples and vocal manipulation techniques is key, utilizing tools like analog synths and drum machines to capture that classic '90s West Coast aura. The duo's production often incorporates sharp percussion and rhythmic loops, maintaining an energetic yet relaxed flow that complements their lyrical delivery.
