About
Hawklords is an English rock band that emerged as a spin-off from the influential space rock group Hawkwind. The band was formed in 1978 by Dave Brock (guitar), who was joined by former Hawkwind member Bob Calvert (vocals), along with Harvey Bainbridge (bass, keyboards), Steve Swindells (keyboards), and Martin Griffin (drums). Known for their bold fusion of art rock, progressive rock, space rock, psychedelic rock, stoner rock, and krautrock, Hawklords initially captured audiences with their album 25 Years On and their dynamic live performances.
How to Sound Like Hawklords
To achieve the Hawklords sound, musicians can focus on creating a blend of raw, energetic, and expansive tones. The use of vintage tube amplifiers can reproduce the warm, overdriven sound typical of their performances, while synthesizers and analog delay pedals can add the spacey, ethereal layers that define their style. Their music often features psychedelic and progressive rock elements, with intricate keyboard textures and driving bass lines that underpin the compositions. Drummers aiming to replicate their sound should aim for a powerful yet fluid style, with dynamic fills that enhance the music’s intensity without overwhelming it. The Hawklords' sound thrives on a mix of rawness and sonic exploration, making creative use of effects and soundscapes essential for capturing their unique vibe.
