About
Hey Violet is a dynamic American pop and electropop band that originated in Los Angeles, California. The group initially formed in 2008 under the name Cherri Bomb, but they transitioned to Hey Violet in 2015, marking a shift in both their lineup and musical style. The band consists of Rena Lovelis (vocals, bass), Nia Lovelis (drums, vocals), and Casey Moreta (guitar, vocals). Known for their infectious blend of indie poptimism, dance pop, and alt Z, Hey Violet has carved out a niche within the pop genre by seamlessly integrating elements of pop rock and electronic music into their sound.
How to Sound Like Hey Violet
Hey Violet's music is characterized by its energetic and polished pop sound, with a focus on catchy hooks and vibrant rhythms. The band's sonic palette is both glossy and dynamic, featuring layers of lush, synth-driven melodies intertwined with punchy guitar riffs. Rena Lovelis's bass lines, often played on a Schecter Stiletto Studio-4, add depth and groove, complementing the crisp, driving beats laid down by Nia Lovelis. Guitarist Casey Moreta's playing, enhanced by effects like the Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer for overdrive and the Boss CE-2 Chorus for richness, adds a vibrant texture to the band's sound. Their music thrives on a blend of clean production and playful, youthful exuberance, making use of electronic elements and pop sensibilities to create tracks that are both anthemic and danceable.
