Hype Williams is an avant-garde music project initially spearheaded by Dean Blunt and Inga Copeland, emerging from London and Russia, respectively. Known for their unconventional approach to music, Hype Williams blurs the lines between a band and an art project. Their sound is an eclectic mix of vaporwave, experimental rock, and lo-fi aesthetics, often described as "hypnagogic pop." Since its inception in the late 2000s, the project has been shrouded in mystery, with a rotating membership and cryptic public communications, adding to its enigmatic allure.

The sonic landscape of Hype Williams is characterized by its lo-fi, hazy textures and a druggy, surreal atmosphere. Their music often feels like a collage, with elements of drone, bass-heavy mutations, and ethereal covers. This distinctive sound is partly crafted using gear like the Roland SH-101 for synth textures and the Boss SP-303 Dr. Sample for sampling, which contribute to their unique, layered soundscapes. The deliberately raw production and hypnotic loops create an immersive experience, echoing a darker, introspective reality that sets them apart from their contemporaries.
