About
Immature is an American R&B group that originated in Los Angeles in the early 1990s. The trio, formed by producer Chris Stokes, consists of Marques "Batman" Houston (vocals), Jerome "Romeo" Jones (vocals), and Kelton "LDB" Kessee (vocals, drums). Known for their contributions to the Quiet Storm and New Jack Swing genres, Immature gained fame while still in their pre-teen years, delivering chart-topping hits like "Never Lie" and "Constantly."
How to Sound Like Immature
Immature's sound is characterized by smooth, soulful harmonies and the infectious grooves typical of New Jack Swing. Their music often features polished vocal arrangements layered over funk-infused beats and lush keyboard textures. To capture their sound, musicians should focus on creating a warm, cohesive mix that's both rhythmic and melodic. Incorporating vintage synthesizers and drum machines can emulate the era-specific soundscapes, while dynamic vocal processing helps in achieving the group's signature emotive delivery. The integration of subtle percussive elements and soft bass lines contributes to the underlying groove that defines their style.
