About

JYOCHO is a Japanese band originating from Kyoto, known for their intricate blend of math rock, J-rock, midwest emo, and Japanese post-rock. The group was formed in 2016 by Daijiro Nakagawa (guitar, chorus), formerly of Uchu Conbini, and includes Nekota Netako (vocals, keyboard), Yuuki Hayashi (flute), and Kojiro Yamazaki (drums). JYOCHO is celebrated for their ability to weave sophisticated and technical guitar work with emotionally resonant melodies, creating a soundscape that is both dynamic and atmospheric.

How to Sound Like JYOCHO

JYOCHO's sound is characterized by intricate, clean guitar lines that often incorporate complex fingerpicking and alternate tunings, reminiscent of math rock's technicality. The flute adds a unique melodic layer, contributing to a rich tapestry of sound that is both ethereal and grounded. To achieve a similar sonic character, musicians might focus on bright, articulate electric guitar tones, complemented by modulation effects that add depth and movement. The drums and keyboards provide a rhythmic and harmonic foundation, often with light, syncopated rhythms that maintain a fluidity essential to their compositions. Ambient textures are achieved through the use of reverb and delay effects, creating an expansive atmosphere that invites listeners into their emotive and intricate musical world.
