About
Kalandra is a Norwegian/Swedish musical group that artfully blends elements of rock, folk rock, and Norwegian indie with a unique Nordic sensibility. Formed in 2011, the band consists of Katrine Stenbekk (vocals), Jogeir Daae Mæland (guitar), Florian Bernhard Winter (guitar), and Oskar Johnsen Rydh (drums). Known for their melancholic and cinematic soundscapes, Kalandra draws inspiration from Nordic folk traditions, weaving ethereal melodies with gritty guitar work to create music that is both haunting and deeply emotive.
How to Sound Like Kalandra
Kalandra’s sound is characterized by its rich, atmospheric layers and emotionally charged melodies. Their music often features clean yet textured guitar tones, achieved through a combination of acoustic and electric elements. The use of reverb and delay effects helps to create expansive, cinematic soundscapes, while the ethereal vocals of Katrine Stenbekk add a haunting quality to their music. To achieve this blend of clarity and depth, the band may utilize gear such as the Neumann TLM 103 for capturing vocal nuances and the Roland SPD-SX Sampling Pad for integrating electronic textures. The result is a sound that feels both intimate and vast, inviting listeners into Kalandra's introspective musical world.
