About

KIRINJI is a dynamic Japanese musical group known for their eclectic blend of Shibuya-kei, J-pop, City pop, J-R&B, and Japanese indie genres. Originally formed in 1996 by brothers Takaki Horigome and Yasuyuki Horigome, the group made their major debut in 1998. Yasuyuki's departure in 2013 marked a new era for KIRINJI, as they expanded into a six-member band, with Takaki Horigome continuing as the creative force alongside new members. Over the years, KIRINJI has evolved into a versatile ensemble, releasing music under their own label "syncokin" and contributing to various artists' works, films, and dramas.

How to Sound Like KIRINJI

KIRINJI's soundscape is a rich tapestry of melodic sophistication and rhythmic intricacy, often characterized by their smooth, jazzy undertones and lush instrumentation. The band's music features clean, warm guitar tones, with Takaki Horigome's use of the Gibson ES-335 adding a semi-hollow resonance that complements their city pop vibe. The incorporation of acoustic elements, as seen with Erino Yumiki's Yamaha CPX1200, brings a natural, organic texture to their sound. KIRINJI's arrangements often employ sophisticated chord progressions and intricate harmonies, creating a seamless blend of traditional and contemporary influences that captivate both casual listeners and seasoned musicians alike.
