Klangstof is a Dutch indie rock band that seamlessly blends elements of synth-pop, post-rock, and electronic music to create a unique soundscape. Formed in Amsterdam, the group consists of Koen van de Wardt (vocals, bass, guitar), Wannes Salomé (keyboards, synths), and Erik Buschmann (drums). Klangstof gained recognition with their debut album, Closed Eyes To Exit, and have since become known for their innovative approach to genre-blending, incorporating experimental electronic elements and lush, atmospheric textures into their music. Their evolution has seen them explore both expansive, synth-laden compositions and more intimate, band-oriented arrangements.

Klangstof's sound is characterized by its ethereal, ambient quality, where lush synth layers intertwine with organic instrumentation to create an immersive listening experience. Their music often features rich, textural synthscapes, achieved through tools like the Dave Smith Instruments Prophet 12 and Clavia Nord Wave, which provide a dynamic range of tones and moods. Koen van de Wardt’s use of the Strymon BigSky contributes to the band’s expansive reverb effects, adding depth and space to their compositions. The band's rhythmic backbone, courtesy of Erik Buschmann's drums, remains steady yet fluid, allowing for the interplay between electronic and acoustic elements to shine.
