About

Malignancy is a groundbreaking force in the extreme metal scene, known for their technical prowess and relentless energy. Hailing from Yonkers, New York, this group was founded in 1992 by Danny Nelson (vocals) and Javier Velez (guitar). Despite numerous lineup changes, Nelson and Ron Kachnic (guitar), who joined in 1994, have remained steadfast members. Malignancy's sound is a ferocious blend of death metal, grindcore, and technical death metal, with a focus on complex compositions and blistering speed. Their albums, such as Intrauterine Cannibalism and Inhuman Grotesqueries, showcase their evolution from brutal beginnings to a more intricate, technically ambitious approach.

How to Sound Like Malignancy

Malignancy's sound is an aggressive, chaotic blend characterized by rapid-fire blast beats, intricate guitar work, and guttural vocals. The guitar tones are often sharp and highly distorted, creating an intense sonic assault that complements their frenetic drumming. Using guitars like the B.C. Rich Mockingbird and amplifiers such as the Line 6 Spider III HD150 and Orange TH100 Head, their music is both punishing and technically proficient. The use of multi-effect plugins like Line 6 POD Farm 2 allows for a wide range of tones, from brutal chugging riffs to searing leads, capturing the band's chaotic yet precise essence.
