About
Mediavolo is a French musical duo known for their blend of dream pop, shoegaze, and ethereal wave. Formed in 1999, the project initially began as a five-member band but evolved into a collaboration between Géraldine (lyricist, lead vocals) and Jacques (composer, performer, arranger, producer). Their music often features contributions from live musicians such as Lionel Prigent (drums), David Carquet (bass), and Fabrice Duhamel (keyboards). Mediavolo's sound is a unique amalgamation of art pop, drawing inspiration from the most influential decades of rock music, from the '60s to the '90s.
How to Sound Like Mediavolo
Mediavolo’s sound is characterized by lush, atmospheric textures and haunting melodies. The duo crafts their ethereal soundscapes using a combination of layered guitars with reverb and delay effects, creating a dreamy yet powerful auditory experience. Analog synths and ambient keyboard effects add depth and dimension, while the drums and bass provide a steady, unobtrusive backbone that supports the melodic elements. The use of soft, expressive vocal techniques enhances the emotional impact of their music, often weaving seamlessly with the instrumental layers. To emulate Mediavolo's sound, musicians might focus on creating expansive soundscapes with reverb-heavy guitar tones, melodic bass lines, and synth-driven ambient textures.
