About

Miracle Fortress is a Canadian music project known for its blend of dreamy, atmospheric noise pop and Brian Wilson-style psychedelia. Founded in Montreal in 2005 by multi-instrumentalist Graham Van Pelt, who is also associated with the band Think About Life, Miracle Fortress initially began as a solo endeavor. The project's live performances expanded to include Adam Waito (Telefauna), Jessie Stein (SS Cardiac), and Jordan Robson-Cramer, showcasing a fuller sound. The group gained attention with their debut EP Watery Grave and later the album Five Roses. Their sound further evolved with the 2011 release of Was I the Wave?, which incorporated elements of shoegaze.

How to Sound Like Miracle Fortress

Miracle Fortress’s sonic character is lush, textured, and immersive, often characterized by layers of melodic instrumentation that create a dreamy, expansive soundscape. The use of analog delay pedals and reverb effects contributes to their ethereal vibe, giving their music a sense of depth and atmosphere. Clean guitar tones are interwoven with synth-driven elements, providing a harmonious balance between organic and electronic sounds. The rhythmic foundation is supported by steady, understated drumming, allowing the intricate layers to shine. To emulate Miracle Fortress's style, musicians might focus on creating ambient textures with modulation effects, ensuring their arrangements are both rich and dynamic.
