About

Murder Junkies is a notorious American punk band, initially formed to back the infamous shock rocker G.G. Allin during the early 1990s. Originating from the United States, the band consists of Merle Allin (bass), Dino Sex (drums), and a rotating lineup of guitarists and vocalists over the years. Known for their chaotic live performances and raw sound, the Murder Junkies embody the aggressive spirit of hardcore punk and proto-punk. After G.G. Allin's death in 1993, the band continued to perform with various frontmen, maintaining their legacy within the punk scene through relentless touring and releases like Feed My Sleaze.

How to Sound Like Murder Junkies

The Murder Junkies' sound is characterized by its gritty, unpolished energy and rebellious edge. Their music is aggressive and visceral, often propelled by distorted guitars and driving bass lines. This raw aesthetic is typically achieved through the use of powerful amps like the Ampeg SVT Vintage Amplifier, favored by former member Dee Dee Ramone. The band’s performances are further intensified by Dino Sex's relentless drumming, which complements the abrasive guitar work. Instruments such as the ESP Custom Thunderbird Chinese Dragon Bass add to the bold, punchy tones that define their music, creating an unmistakable wall of sound that captures the essence of punk's raw and untamed nature.
