Odd Project is an American metalcore band hailing from Orange County, California, known for their intense blend of emo, screamo, post-hardcore, and metalcore elements. Formed in 2000, the original lineup included Matt Lamb (vocals), Scott Zschomler (lead guitar, vocals), Greg Pawloski (rhythm guitar), Eric Cline (bass), and Christian Escobar (drums). They made a significant impact with their debut album The Second Hand Stopped, recorded at the renowned Zing Studios. Despite lineup changes and a hiatus, their energy and raw emotion continue to resonate in the metalcore scene.

How to Sound Like Odd Project

Odd Project's sound is characterized by aggressive, high-energy guitar riffs and emotive, dynamic vocals. To capture their intense sonic palette, a musician might focus on incorporating heavy distortion and overdrive, often using tube amps to achieve a gritty, powerful tone. The dual guitar interplay combines both melodic and dissonant elements, necessitating tight rhythm sections and intricate lead work. The vocal delivery ranges from passionate screams to melodic lines, requiring a versatile approach to dynamics and expressiveness. Drummers aiming to replicate their style should focus on fast-paced, hard-hitting rhythms that drive the music forward, complemented by precise double bass drumming for added depth and complexity. The result is a sound that's both emotionally charged and sonically robust, perfect for fans of the genre looking to explore its intense and heartfelt dimensions.
