About

Os Resentidos were a Galician rock band from Vigo, Spain, formed in the early 1980s and centered around Antón Reixa (vocals, songwriter), with key members including Alberto Torrado (bass), Rubén Losada (saxophone), and Javier Soto (guitar), later replaced by Xabier Debesa. The group became one of the defining acts of Galicia’s post-Franco cultural scene, blending rock, pop, punk attitude, and Galician folk elements with sharp satire, surreal humor, and a strong regional identity. They are especially associated with the use of the Galician language in a modern pop-rock context, and with songs like “Galicia Caníbal,” which helped make them a landmark act in Spanish alternative music.

How to Sound Like Os Resentidos

To get close to Os Resentidos’ sound, think in terms of wiry, rhythm-forward rock rather than polished arena production. Their music often feels dry, punchy, and slightly abrasive, with tight electric guitar parts, prominent bass movement, and saxophone lines adding bite and color. Instead of lush ambient layering, the arrangements rely more on groove, attitude, and contrast—clean-to-gritty guitar tones, clipped rhythmic strumming, and a vocal delivery that sounds talk-sung, theatrical, and deliberately sardonic. A band aiming for this style should focus on lean drum sounds, direct amp tones, minimal effects, and arrangements that leave room for rhythmic interplay, while folding in folk-inflected melodic ideas and a sense of irony rather than overt virtuosity.
