Originating from Paris, the band was led by the charismatic Belle du Berry (vocals, accordion), whose lyrical wit and stage presence left an indelible mark on their sound. The ensemble was rounded out by David Lewis (trumpet, piano), Potzi (guitar), François Jeannin (drums), and Benoît Dunoyer de Segonzac (bass).
