Phuture is a pioneering electronic music group hailing from Chicago, known for their significant impact on the development of the acid house genre. Formed in 1985, the original lineup included DJ Pierre, Spanky (Earl Smith Jr.), and Herb J (Herbert Jackson), with each member contributing to the innovative use of the Roland TB-303 bass synthesizer. This trio laid the groundwork for acid house with their groundbreaking track "Acid Trax," which became a landmark in electronic music. As the group evolved, members such as Roy Davis Jr. and Damon Neloms (Professor Trax) joined, furthering Phuture’s influence in techno, deep house, and Chicago house.
