About

Sense Field was a pioneering American band that emerged from the Southern California music scene, known for their influential role in the evolution of emo and post-hardcore genres. Formed in the early '90s by Jon Bunch (vocals), Chris Evenson (guitar), Rodney Sellars (guitar), John Stockberger (bass), and Scott McPherson (drums, later replaced by Rob Pfeiffer), the group built a reputation for their emotive and melodic approach to hardcore music. Sense Field released several albums, including their self-titled debut and Building, under Revelation Records before moving to Nettwerk where they released Tonight and Forever, featuring the notable single "Save Yourself."

How to Sound Like Sense Field

Sense Field's sound is characterized by emotive and melodic guitar lines, often intertwining clean and distorted tones to create a dynamic sonic landscape. Their music typically features layered guitar arrangements that balance introspective, melodic elements with the intensity of post-hardcore, employing analog delay and reverb effects to add depth and texture. The vocals are passionate and clear, driving the emotional core of their songs, while the rhythm section provides a tight, energetic foundation that supports the harmonic complexity. Their ability to blend melodic hooks with the raw energy of hardcore makes their sound both accessible and impactful, appealing to musicians looking to explore the emotional breadth and intensity of emo and post-hardcore music.
