About
Slowwves is a dream pop and shoegaze band originating from Bangkok, Thailand. The group consists of Jill (vocals), Peem (guitar), and Jump (drums). The formation of Slowwves was serendipitous, beginning when Peem discovered Jill's songwriting talent through mutual friends, leading them to collaborate musically. Their lineup was solidified with the addition of Jump, Peem's university classmate, who brought his drumming skills to the ensemble. Slowwves is characterized by their lush, atmospheric soundscapes and ambient textures, which capture the essence of their genre influences.
How to Sound Like Slowwves
Slowwves' sound is defined by ethereal, reverb-laden guitar work that creates expansive sonic landscapes, ideal for those looking to explore the dreamy realms of shoegaze and dream pop. Their music often features ambient washes of sound, achieved through the use of reverb and delay effects, crafting a feeling of vastness and introspective depth. The vocals float delicately above the instrumentation, providing a soothing contrast to the layered, sometimes distorted guitar textures. Drums in Slowwves' arrangements are typically understated yet precise, contributing to the overall atmospheric quality without dominating the mix. To emulate their sound, musicians might focus on creating rich, immersive soundscapes using a combination of modulation effects, ambient reverbs, and a gentle yet dynamic approach to rhythm.
