About

Sons of Sylvia is an American alternative rock band formed by three talented brothers: Adam Clark (guitar, mandolin), Ashley Clark (lead vocals, fiddle, guitar, mandolin), and Austin Clark (background vocals, resonator guitar). Emerging from the remnants of a previous family project, the Clark Family Experience, Sons of Sylvia was officially established in 2007. The band gained national attention after winning the television contest "The Next Great American Band" and went on to release their debut album Revelation under Interscope Records. Their music uniquely blends elements of rock with country influences, showcasing a fusion of modern alternative sounds and traditional string instruments.

How to Sound Like Sons of Sylvia

Sons of Sylvia’s sound is characterized by a dynamic blend of rich, layered guitar work and expressive fiddle melodies. Their arrangements often incorporate acoustic and resonator guitars, providing a warm, resonant foundation that complements the textural depth of mandolins and fiddles. The band's use of reverb and subtle delay effects adds an atmospheric quality to their music, giving it both emotional depth and a polished edge. Their vocals are harmonically rich, supported by a tight rhythmic section that balances the organic feel of their string instrumentation. To capture their sound, musicians should focus on creating a harmonious blend of traditional acoustic elements and modern rock sensibilities, using effects sparingly to enhance rather than overpower the natural tones of their instruments.
