About
Spaceface is a Los Angeles-based musical group that infuses elements of space rock, psychedelic rock, and neo-psychedelic into their sound. The band, known for its cosmic and dreamlike musical explorations, was formed in 2012 by Jake Ingalls (vocals, guitar), formerly of The Flaming Lips, and Eric Martin (vocals, guitar). They are joined by Marina Aguerre (bass) and Garet Powell (drums) for their live performances. Spaceface has crafted a unique sonic identity that echoes the universe's chaotic whispers into catchy, ethereal compositions, as demonstrated in their releases like Sun Kids and Anemoia.
How to Sound Like Spaceface
Spaceface's music is characterized by lush, dreamy soundscapes that seamlessly blend melodic and ambient elements. Their sound is often layered with synthesizers, like the ARP Avatar, which contribute to their expansive and otherworldly atmosphere. The band utilizes vibrant guitar tones that are both clean and slightly distorted, achieved through instruments like the Goldfinch Custom Guitar and Fender Player Series Lead II. These guitars, paired with modulation effects and reverbs, create a swirling, immersive auditory experience. Spaceface's use of rhythmic, yet laid-back drumming and groovy bass lines ensures their music maintains a mesmerizing groove, inviting listeners to float along their cosmic journey.
