About
TESTSET is a Japanese music group emerging from the vibrant Shibuya-kei scene, known for its eclectic blend of pop, jazz, and electronic elements. The band is comprised of Yoshinori Sunahara (synthesizers), Leo Imai (vocals, guitar), Kenichi Shirane (drums), and Seiichi Nagai (guitar). Originating from a special lineup at the FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL in 2021, the group has since established its own identity, weaving together the diverse musical backgrounds of its members to create a dynamic and genre-defying sound.
How to Sound Like TESTSET
TESTSET's sonic landscape is richly textured and adventurous, characterized by a seamless fusion of electronic and organic sounds. Their music often features lush synthesizer layers and intricate guitar work, delivering a sound that is both ambient and rhythmically engaging. The use of the Yamaha Reface CS by Sunahara contributes to their vintage synth textures, while the groove-oriented beats of Shirane provide a compelling foundation. To emulate TESTSET's sound, musicians might explore analog synths and versatile DAW software like PreSonus Studio One to craft their own intricate and enveloping arrangements.
