About

The City Harmonic was a Canadian Christian rock band hailing from Hamilton, Ontario. Known for their Brit-pop-infused indie rock sound with a spiritual message, the group formed in 2009 and consisted of Elias Dummer (vocals, keys, guitar), Aaron Powell (guitar), Eric Fusilier (bass guitar), and Josh Vanderlaan (drums). They quickly gained recognition in the Christian music scene with their debut EP Introducing the City Harmonic and subsequent albums, blending genres such as piano rock, Christian alternative rock, and worship music. Their music often featured anthemic worship themes, earning them accolades such as the Dove Award for New Artist of the Year and a Juno Award for Christian/Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year.

How to Sound Like The City Harmonic

The City Harmonic's sound is characterized by uplifting and anthemic arrangements that blend melodic piano lines with driving guitar riffs. Their music often features a clean and expansive sonic landscape, achieved through the use of reverberant piano tones and dynamic vocal harmonies. The guitars typically employ crisp, chiming sounds, enhanced by modulation and delay effects to create a sense of depth and space. Meanwhile, the bass and drums provide a steady, rhythmic foundation, supporting the band's layered textures without overwhelming the mix. To capture their sound, musicians might focus on utilizing warm, clear tones with ambient effects, creating a rich, emotional atmosphere that complements the band's worshipful and introspective themes.
