About
The Cost is a Spanish progressive rock trio formed in 2023, bringing together El Estepario Siberiano (drums), Peter Connolly, and Chris Attwell. The band’s makeup reflects a cross-cultural collaboration, with each member drawing from different musical backgrounds to shape a sound that sits within progressive rock while leaning into a polished, modern sense of scale. Though still a new project, The Cost has quickly become associated with technically sharp performances and a cinematic, high-impact approach to songwriting.
How to Sound Like The Cost
The Cost’s sound feels precise, muscular, and modern rather than loose or vintage—built on tight rhythmic interplay, dramatic dynamics, and a polished sense of space. For players trying to get close, the drums are central: they need to sound articulate, explosive, and extremely controlled, with fast double-kick work and crisp accents pushing the arrangements forward. That kind of attack fits naturally with a setup like the Yamaha DFP-9C FP 9 Series Chain Drive Double Bass Drum Pedal, while a module such as the Yamaha EAD10 Drum Module with Mic and Trigger Pickup helps capture the band’s clean, punchy, mix-ready drum presence. Around that foundation, aim for heavy but defined guitars, dramatic arrangement shifts, and a production style that balances aggression with clarity rather than burying everything in raw distortion.
