About
Thulsa Doom is a Norwegian rock band hailing from Oslo, known for blending elements of doom metal, stoner rock, and sludge metal with a unique sense of humor and energetic performances. Formed in 1999 as a side project by Norwegian underground producer and Black Debbath guitarist Ole Petter Andreassen, who adopted the alias El Doom, the band features a lineup consisting of Papa Doom (vocals), Doom Perignon (guitar), Angelov Doom (bass), and Fast Winston Doom (drums). Despite their name, Thulsa Doom often challenges the conventions of traditional doom metal by infusing their sound with faster, stoner-metallic riffs and unexpected musical turns.
How to Sound Like Thulsa Doom
Thulsa Doom's sound is characterized by its aggressive yet melodic energy, combining the heavy riffs typical of metal with a psychedelic rock edge. Their music is marked by fuzzy, distorted guitar tones and a driving rhythm section that propels their songs forward with relentless momentum. The use of the Danelectro Longhorn Bass lends a distinctive growl to their low-end, while the Gibson Thunderbird IV complements their sound with its powerful sustain and attack. Vocals delivered through a Shure SM7B add a raw, dynamic edge, capturing the intensity of their live performances. Thulsa Doom's music thrives on its ability to balance heaviness with an infectious groove, creating a sound that is both thunderous and captivating.
